It was always on our agenda to prepare a seminar program to comprehensively address the Treaty of Lausanne. The recent frequent mention of the Treaty of Lausanne, signed in Lausanne, Switzerland on July 24, 1923, after the War of Independence, made organizing this seminar an inevitable task for us.

Some circles regard this agreement as a "defeat", while others regard it as "Türkiye's deed", and conflicting interpretations are made.

What is the Lausanne Peace Treaty? We can best understand it by examining the Lausanne Peace Conference negotiations and background, which began on November 20, 1922, and lasted until its signing on July 24, 1923.

For this purpose, the Lausanne Exchangees Foundation organized ten sessions of Lausanne Conference Seminars. Seminar topics were determined by taking into account the topics and historical process discussed in Lausanne and aiming to understand the Treaty in all its aspects, and academics who are experts on the Lausanne Peace Treaty and international relations made presentations in the sessions.
