The book “Exchanged Cities: Memories and Documents” is the 4th book of the presentations made at the Exchanged Cities Talks. Our first book was published in November 2012 under the title “Exchanged Cities: Greece”, our second book was published in 2013 under the title “Exchanged Cities: Turkey”, and our third book was published in 2014 under the title “Exchanged Cities: Space and People”.

The 4th volume we have includes some of the interviews from the 2015-2016 period. The interviews from the previous period were mostly about memories and documents. For this reason, we found it appropriate to name the book Exchanged Cities: Memories and Documents. We think that only a very small part of the material in the archives on the subject has been evaluated. We hope that with the study of these materials by experts, many more publications will be made that address the subject from different perspectives.

The number of memoirs written by exchangees to date is also very few. It is our wish that more exchange memoirs will meet with the reader from now on.

The authors and subject titles of the presentations in this book titled “Exchanged Cities: Memories and Documents” are as follows:

-Pınar Şenışık: “Identity Politics and Migration: Remembering Crete in Ottoman Izmir”

-Eva A. Şarlak: “Longing in Memories: Traces in the Memories of the Greeks Who Migrated from Şile”

-Ömer Asan: “A Mute Language: Trabzon Greek”

-Sevim Yılmaz Önder: “Living Turkish with the Exchange”
